Disaster Evacuation

For compact power stations (1kWh and below), the Alternator Charger keeps your unit topped up on the road. Enjoy worry-free power for every outdoor adventure.

Skip traditional hardwired 12V batteries and DC-to-DC chargers. With a power station + alternator charger setup, you get ultimate flexibility: power onboard systems while driving, then take your power outdoors for lighting, cooking, or tools.

When emergencies hit, restore your power station to full during the evacuation drive—even if it’s been sitting unused and partially discharged.

Safer – Enhanced Alternator & Starter Battery Protection

The Alternator Charger harnesses surplus alternator power without disrupting normal vehicle operation or adding extra load while driving.

Note: A vehicle alternator typically delivers ~50% more power than required for basic onboard systems during normal driving. The Alternator Charger safely utilizes this surplus. Combined with intelligent starter battery voltage detection, it automatically adapts output based on alternator model, driving conditions, and in-car power usage—always staying within safe operating limits.

Five Layers of Protection with Advanced Quality Standards

Designed for outdoor and off-road conditions, the Alternator Charger features an IP4X dust protection rating to guard against particles commonly found in vehicle cabins and engine bays. The fanless natural cooling design ensures a sealed structure that resists dust buildup, reducing the risk of short circuits and supporting long-term, reliable performance in harsh environments.

FAQ

Is the EcoFlow Alternator Charger compatible with third-party power stations, and how are they charged?

The Alternator Charger can charge third-party portable power stations if the following conditions are met:

1. Connected via an XT60 cable.
2. The battery type is configured in the settings.
3. The vehicle battery voltage (12V/24V) is selected based on the actual voltage level of the vehicle battery connected to the EcoFlow Alternator Charger.
4. The portable power station type is selected as a third-party 24V battery.

Why can't the maximum power be reached when using the XT60 cable?

1. The maximum power is limited to 500W for both the 800W and 500W Alternator Charger when using an XT60 cable.
2. When the portable power station type is set to 48V, the maximum power is 500W. When set to 24V, the maximum power is 360W.
3. The actual charging power depends on the power station's current input capability. The 800W/500W/360W ratings refer to the Alternator Charger's rated output power, but the actual input power is determined by the power station's rated input capacity.

Why do I need to set the cable length?

The cable length setting digitally compensates for voltage drop caused by long cable connections to the vehicle battery, ensuring a more accurate voltage display.
Recommendation: Set it based on the actual measured length of the input circuit.

Why can't I select the portable power station type as 24V (24V unit: RIVER 2/3/mini/Max/Pro, WAVE, & third-party 24V batteries) when the vehicle battery is set to 24V?

The Alternator Charger uses a boost circuit design, which requires the input voltage to be lower than the output voltage to ensure optimal performance and electrical safety.

Will the Alternator Charger consume more fuel (i.e. affect gas mileage) when being used?

The product uses the power generated by the vehicle's alternator. Even if all the electrical devices inside the car are turned off, the alternator still generates power while the vehicle is running. The Alternator Charger harnesses the surplus power generated by the car's alternator and stores it in a portable power station through the charger. The impact on fuel consumption is very minimal.

Do I need to drill holes to install this product? Will it cause any damage to the vehicle?

No drilling is required for the installation. Wiring to the vehicle's front alternator does not require drilling and will not damage the vehicle. Simply route the wiring through the firewall near the driver's seat. The Alternator Charger can also be placed using a no-drill method.

Is the Alternator Charger suitable for DIY installation?

The installation of the Alternator Charger is fairly straightforward, and it is feasible for some users with some hands-on experience to install it themselves. However, it is still recommended to contact professional personnel from related workshops for installation.
Installation advice: When wiring, avoid high temperatures and sharp and friction-prone areas, and securely fasten the cables to avoid cable wear or loose connections caused by cable movement. The Alternator Charger may generate relatively high temperatures, so avoid covering the product. After use, avoid immediate direct contact to prevent the risk of scalds.

What advantages does the 500W Alternator Charger offer compared to charging via the cigarette lighter?

The charging power is significantly increased. The charging power of a cigarette lighter is about 100W. In contrast, the Alternator Charger can support charging portable power stations continuously at a high power of 500W while driving, which is 5 times the power of a cigarette lighter.

What types of vehicles are suitable for installation? Can all of them reach maximum power?

Technically, the Alternator Charger is not limited by vehicle power sources (fuel, electric, etc.), but it is best suited for fuel-powered vehicles. It is also compatible with hybrid and range-extended vehicles.
The actual charging power depends on the alternator’s surplus power and may fluctuate. Additionally, some older or specialized vehicles with consistently low voltage may not function properly with the Alternator Charger.

How does the Alternator Charger automatically start and stop?

According to voltage recognition, the starting voltage is adjustable, and the adjustment range is 11V-30V.

If the vehicle battery is low on power, can the vehicle battery be charged by the alternator charger?

Reverse charging is supported. Please manually switch the working mode in the EcoFlow APP. (Requires XT150 cable and must be used with the EcoFlow DELTA series products.)

How long does it take to fully charge a RIVER Series / DELTA Series product using the 500W Alternator Charger?

RIVER 2 - 2.4 hr
RIVER 2 Pro - 3.6 hr
RIVER 2 Max - 2.5 hr
RIVER 3 - 2.3 hr
DELTA 2 (1kWh) - 2.1 hr
DELTA 3 (1kWh) - 2.1 hr
DELTA 3 Plus (1kWh) - 2.1 hr

How to determine whether my car is compatible with the Alternator Charger?

The Alternator Charger supports an input voltage range of 11V-31V, making it theoretically compatible with vehicles using 12V or 24V starter batteries.

How many working modes does the Alternator Charger have?

1. Charging Mode: The vehicle's alternator charges the portable power station, while the car battery acts as a load to conduct current.
2. Reverse Charging Mode: The portable power station charges the starter battery or RV house battery with relatively high current. (Requires the XT150 cable and must be used with EcoFlow DELTA Series products.)
3. Battery Maintenance Mode: Similar to reverse charging, but with lower current and a maximum working power of 100W. (Requires the XT150 cable and must be used with EcoFlow DELTA Series products.)
