FAQ

STREAM 5000/STREAM AC 5000 10-year warranty. For more warranty-related information, please visit the official website for details.
STREAM Solar Panel Connection GuideThe photovoltaic input interface of the STREAM device is an MC4 interface. You can purchase an appropriate extension cable according to the actual installation distance (usually 3m to 5m, and the length of a single cable should not exceed 30m). If you need to parallel multiple solar panels to increase current, you can also optionally add an MC4 branch cable.[Note]: The current-carrying capacity of the selected cable must not be lower than the short-circuit current (40A) of the corresponding photovoltaic circuit to ensure safe operation.Connection Steps:
1. Insert the MC4 male connector (+) and MC4 female connector (−) of the solar panel into the extension cable respectively.
2. Connect the other end of the extension cable to the PV INPUT interface marked on the back of the STREAM 5000 (pay attention to the correspondence of positive and negative poles).
3. Tighten the MC4 connector until a "click" sound is heard to confirm that the connection is secure.
The STREAM 5000 does not support series connection of solar panels; it only supports parallel connection. Note: The solar panels connected in parallel to one PV interface of the STREAM 5000 must be of the same model and specifications.When solar panels are connected in parallel, the current adds up normally, and the voltage is limited by the panel with the smallest voltage. You need to ensure that the parameters and combination method of the connected solar panels do not exceed the following ranges:
1. Voltage: The open-circuit voltage of the solar panel must be within the voltage range of the STREAM 5000;
2. Current: The short-circuit current of the solar panel < the maximum current of STREAM 5000 2;
3. Power: The maximum power of the solar panel cannot exceed 1.2 times the maximum input power of 1250W;
4. The current-carrying capacity of the cable connecting the photovoltaic system must not be lower than the short-circuit current of the photovoltaic panel in that circuit (40A);All four conditions must be met simultaneously; if any one is exceeded, it cannot be used.
The STREAM AC 5000 can be expanded by stacking with the EcoFlow STREAM Expansion Battery 5000. One STREAM 5000 can be stacked with up to 2 Expansion Batteries, with a maximum expansion to 15KWh (available in multiple levels: 5KWH/10KWH/15KWH). A system can support up to 6 STREAM 5000&STREAM AC 5000 units, with a maximum system expandable value of 90KWh.
There is a Battery stacking port at the bottom of the STREAM 5000/STREAM AC 5000 device, and the EcoFlow STREAM Expansion Battery 5000 device has a parallel port at both the top and bottom. The parallel effect can be achieved by stacking the devices.
The STREAM 5000 has a single-unit capacity of 5024 Wh. The device supports stacking expansion with power packs, and can be paralleled with the EcoFlow STREAM Expansion Battery 5000 through stacking. One STREAM AC 5000 can be stacked with up to 2 Expansion Batteries, expanding the maximum capacity to 15KWh (with multiple options of 5KWh/10KWh/15KWh).
A system can support up to 6 STREAM 5000 & STREAM AC 5000 units, with a maximum system expandable capacity of 90KWh.
Compared with the previous generation EF balcony energy storage system, STREAM 5AC 000 has obvious upgrades in the following aspects:
1. Larger capacity: The single unit capacity is 5024Wh, which is several times that of the previous generation. It supports parallel expansion of up to 2 Expansion Batteries, which can expand the host capacity to 15KWh; a system can connect up to six hosts, with a maximum capacity of 90KWh;
2. Higher grid-connected output capability: The maximum grid-connected output of a single STREAM 5000 is 3000W, while that of a single STREAM AC 5000 is 2500W, which can reach 3000W when paired with an Expansion Battery;
3. Sufficient off-grid power: AC Outlet (in grid-connected situation) has a maximum output of 3600W, meeting the needs of high-power electrical appliances;
4. Flexible expansion: Supports STREAM Gateway to further expand grid-connected power, with up to 6 units working together, featuring strong scalability;
5. Improved intelligence: Supports intelligent functions such as Intelligent mode and Peak Shaving, making energy management more worry-free.
Local Mode is an optional connection method (this function requires a smart meter): When enabled, the App and the device communicate only through the home local area network, the system operates for self-use, and can access ecological accessories and meters that support local access. Data is not uploaded to the cloud and remains completely local, better protecting your privacy and data security.
Homeassitant is not supported yet, but there are plans to integrate it.
STREAM system is a balcony energy storage all-in-one system, which consists of solar panels, STREAM 500 host (including battery and grid-tied inverter), and EF App.
Working principle: By linking with the smart meter, during the day, the solar panels convert light energy into electrical energy, part of which is directly supplied to household loads, and part is stored in the battery for backup; at night or on cloudy days, the energy stored in the battery is released for household use, and excess electricity can be output to the grid.
The system can be remotely monitored and set through the EF App, supporting multiple modes such as self-consumption, Intelligent mode, and custom mode, as well as multiple functions such as Peak Shaving and Local Mode, helping users maximize the use of solar energy and reduce electricity bills.
Before connecting STREAM 5000 / STREAM AC 5000 to Bluetooth and WiFi, ensure that your phone is connected to the network (WiFi or mobile data) first.Operation steps:
1. Turn on the phone's Bluetooth;
2. Download and install the latest version of the EcoFlow App from the App Store (iOS) or the application store (Android);
3. Register and log in to your EcoFlow account;
4. Follow the device manual to enter the network configuration mode, and add the device in the App as prompted;
5. After the device is connected to the network, you can remotely check the device status and set parameters in the App.Note: When configuring the network for the first time, ensure that your phone and STREAM 5000 are in the same Wi-Fi network environment (2.4GHz frequency band; some routers need to set 2.4G and 5G networks separately).
The Intelligent mode combines future weather forecasts, user electricity consumption habits, equipment status, dynamic electricity prices, or time-of-use electricity prices, and automatically achieves the minimum cost of electricity through the strategy of discharging at high prices and charging at low prices; the main advantages of this mode are:
- Users with dynamic electricity prices can automatically achieve the minimum cost of electricity without changing their own electricity consumption habits;
- For users with time-of-use electricity prices, compared with time-based custom tasks, the intelligent mode will automatically formulate corresponding charging and discharging tasks based on weather forecasts and considering the future PV power generation level.
During peak electricity usage hours, when the household draws power from the grid exceeding the set power limit, the system will automatically use battery discharge to compensate based on the set peak-shaving SOC, thereby reducing the peak power drawn from the grid. It can work collaboratively in operating modes such as self-consumption and AI mode without the need for separate mode switching.
Cost-saving: In areas where billing is based on peak power or capacity, reducing monthly/annual peaks may lower capacity fees and costs related to contracted power.More peace of mind: During peak concurrent electricity use (e.g., simultaneous operation of EV charging, heat pumps, and ovens), it reduces the power draw pressure on the main circuit and lowers the risk of tripping due to excessively high peaks.More flexibility: It allows expansion of home electrification without upgrading the grid contract or modifying home electrical distribution.More convenience: It operates automatically after setting the power limit and time period, eliminating the need for frequent manual intervention.
When there is a power outage, the STREAM 5000 will immediately switch to off-grid mode, the grid-connected port will stop outputting, and the device will supply power to the loads connected to the AC Outlet.
Prerequisites:
1. There must be sufficient remaining power in the battery;
2. The load needs to be connected to the AC Outlet of the STREAM 5000.
Notes:
- The grid-connected port will disconnect immediately upon detecting a grid power outage and cannot be used for off-grid power supply;
- Do not connect the AC Outlet of the STREAM 5000 to the power grid;
- The actual available duration depends on the load power, remaining battery power, and photovoltaic power.
If the area where you live frequently experiences power outages, it is recommended to keep the battery fully charged to enable seamless switching to backup power in the event of a power outage.
STREAM 5000/STREAM AC 5000 has an IP65 protection rating and can be used indoors/outdoors. It is recommended to install it in a well-ventilated, cool and shaded place.
STREAM 5000 is compatible with third-party solar panels. You only need to confirm the parameters and combination method of the connected solar panels to determine whether the maximum power of the solar panels is within the specifications of STREAM 5000. If it exceeds the range, it will cause damage to STREAM 5000 and cannot be used;
In the solar input specifications of STREAM: the voltage range of a single port is (20V, 60V), the short-circuit current is 40A, and the maximum input power is 1250W;
The solar panel combination method must meet the following conditions:
1. Voltage: The open-circuit voltage of the solar panel must be within the voltage range of STREAM5000;
2. Current: The short-circuit current of the solar panel is less than the short-circuit current of STREAM5000;
3. Power: The maximum power of the solar panel cannot exceed 1.2 times the maximum input power of 1250W;
4. The current-carrying capacity of the cable connecting the photovoltaic must not be lower than the short-circuit current of the photovoltaic panel of that circuit;All four conditions must be met simultaneously; if any one is exceeded, it cannot be used;
Combination method:STREAM 5000 prohibits series connection of photovoltaic panels and only supports parallel connection of photovoltaic panels;Parallel connection: The current is normally superimposed, and the voltage is limited by the smallest panel. The photovoltaic panels connected in parallel to one PV interface of STREAM 5000 must be of the same model and specifications.

It is recommended that you pay attention to the latest updates on the EcoFlow official website. Once confirmed information is available, we will share it with you as soon as possible.
Currently compatible with EcoFlow Smart Meter, EcoFlow&Shelly Smart Meter (EU&UK)
Thank you for your interest in and support for the new product! Our STREAM 5000 / STREAM AC 5000 will be developed to be compatible with the previous generation of STREAM products, but specific information has not yet been officially announced. We recommend that you pay attention to the latest updates on the EcoFlow official website. Once confirmed information is available, we will share it with you as soon as possible.
The STREAM 5000 does not support working with Power Stream in the same system.
- STREAM 5000 and Power Stream belong to product series with different positioning, adopting different energy management logics and communication protocols;
- Currently, they cannot be added to the same system in the EF App for unified management;However, Power Stream can be used as a third-party inverter, directly connected to AC OUTLET or home circuit, prioritizing power supply to loads, with any excess supplied to the battery and then fed back to the grid.
Third-party inverters can be directly connected to the AC OUTLET of STREAM 5000 / STREAM AC 5000 (when connecting to the AC Outlet, the output power of the third-party inverter must not exceed 3680W), or directly connected to the home circuit. The energy distribution logic between the third-party inverter and Ecoflow STREAM 5000 / STREAM AC 5000 is as follows:First priority: Supply home loadsSecond priority: Charge the batteryThird priority: Feed excess energy into the grid
Note: In off-grid situations, the third-party inverter is directly connected to the AC OUTLET. If the output power of the third-party inverter exceeds 3000W, the input of the third-party inverter will be stopped.
Thank you for your attention and support to our new products! The STREAM 5000 / STREAM AC 5000 currently supports compatibility with:
EcoFlow Smart Meter (Local Area Network), EcoFlow P1 Meter (Local Area Network), EcoFlow Dual Channel Smart Meter (Local Area Network), EcoFlow&Shelly Smart Meter (Local Area Network), Tibber pulse IR, Shelly Pro3EM [SPEM-003CEBEU120, SPEM-003CEBEU], Shelly 3EM, Homewizard P1 (Local Area Network), Everhome (Ecotracker) IR (Local Area Network)
We will inform you immediately as soon as we confirm information on other newly compatible meter models.
The STREAM 5000 has two usage scenarios: grid-tied and off-grid, with two output ports: grid-tied port and AC Outlet:i. Grid-tied scenario [connected to home grid]When a single device is connected to PV, the maximum output power of the grid-tied port is 3000W.When using plug-and-play installation, the device will automatically limit the system's grid-tied output power to the grid-tied power upper limit specified by the regulations in your area;In grid-tied operation, the maximum load capacity of a single device's AC Outlet is 3600W (by pass).ii. Off-grid scenario [not connected to home grid]In off-grid mode, the maximum output power of the AC Outlet of a single device used as an emergency power supply is 2500W. If you expand the capacity with a power pack, the maximum AC Outlet output power can be upgraded to 3000W.
When the STREAM 5000 is connected to PV or stacked in parallel with a power pack, the maximum grid-connected output power of the device is 3000W, and when the STREAM AC 5000 is stacked in parallel with a power pack, the maximum grid-connected output power of the device is 3000W.A system can have a maximum of 6 STREAM AC 5000/STREAM 5000 host devices, so a system has a maximum output capacity of 18KW.The device is initially in plug-and-play mode by default, which will limit the maximum output of the devices in your system to not exceed the regulatory upper limit in accordance with the local regulations of your area.
If your region supports plug & play, the installation and maintenance of the STREAM 5000 host can be done by yourself.If you are in a region that does not support plug & play, such as the UK, you need to install the STREAM 5000 device into the distribution box in accordance with local regulations, and this operation must be performed by a professional installer or electrician.
The initial default output power of the device is the upper limit specified by the plug & play regulations of the region you selected, such as 800W in Germany.If you need to use grid-tied output capacity exceeding the upper limit of Germany's plug-in PV simplified rules, you need to:First, a registered electrician completes the on-site assessmentAnd complete the necessary confirmation, registration or licensing in accordance with applicable German electrical installation specifications, grid connection requirements, measurement requirements and grid operator requirementsEcoFlow can only evaluate whether to provide corresponding functional support after receiving the necessary certificates and confirming that the product configuration is suitable for the usage scenario.
In off-grid situations, adding one EB can increase the host's off-grid power from 2500 to 3000. Adding more EBs will not further increase the power but can expand the capacity.

Footnote

1. Annual savings figures are based on internal modelling. Estimated annual generation = PV rated power × PV generation ratio; self-consumed energy = estimated generation × self-consumption ratio; annual savings = self-consumed energy × £0.30/kWh. Actual results will vary depending on household consumption, total storage capacity, maximum output power, and PV system size.
For example, based on a household consuming 7,000 kWh/year, with 2 main units + 2 batteries (20 kWh total), 6,000 W output, and 8,000 W PV:
8,000 W × 0.93 = 7,440 kWh (estimated annual generation) 7,440 kWh × 0.78 = 5,803 kWh (self-consumed energy) 5,803 kWh × £0.30 = £1,740 (estimated annual savings)
PV generation ratio and self-consumption ratio vary by region, system size, and usage pattern. Pairing your PV system with adequate battery storage can significantly increase self-consumption. According to the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), adding battery storage can raise PV self-consumption from 40–60% to 70–85% for a system producing half of a household's annual consumption.
